Terms of Use

1. Agreement

These Terms are an agreement between you and Untide ("we", "us") covering your use of the Untide mobile app and untide.app (together, the "Service"). By installing or using the Service you accept these Terms. If you don't accept them, please don't use the Service.

2. You must be 18 or older

The Service is intended solely for adults aged 18 and over. By using it you confirm you meet that age. If you are under 18, please do not use the Service — and please consider talking to an adult you trust or a professional who can help.

3. What Untide is — and what it isn't

Untide helps you notice urges, ride them out, log what happened, and see your own patterns. It is educational and self-help in nature. It is not:

• a medical device, diagnosis, treatment, or cure for any condition;
• therapy, counselling, or psychiatric care;
• a substitute for the judgement of a qualified professional.

Using the Service does not create a doctor-patient, therapist-client, or any other professional care relationship. Techniques in the app are drawn from published behavioural science, but no outcome is promised and results differ from person to person.

4. Emergencies and crisis

The Service is not built for emergencies and cannot help in one. If you are in danger, thinking about harming yourself, or in crisis, stop and contact your local emergency number, or find a free helpline in your country at findahelpline.com.

5. The AI Coach

The AI Coach generates responses automatically using a third-party language model. It can be wrong, incomplete, or unsuitable for your situation, and it has no access to your medical history. Treat what it says as a suggestion from a well-read friend, never as clinical advice. Do not use it to make medical decisions, and never send it information you would not want processed by a third-party AI provider. See our Privacy Policy for exactly what is sent and what is kept.

6. Your data is yours

What you log stays on your device by default. You can export or permanently delete all of it at any time from Settings. You are responsible for keeping your own backups — if you delete the app or your data, we cannot recover it, because we never had a copy.

7. Acceptable use

Please don't: use the Service in a way that breaks the law; try to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract our source code or credentials; attack, overload, or probe our servers; resell or redistribute the Service; or use the AI Coach to try to generate sexual, abusive, or illegal content. We may suspend access that endangers other users or the Service itself.

8. Price, subscriptions and cancellation

During early access, Untide is free. When paid plans launch, prices and any free-trial length will be shown clearly in the app before you are charged, and:

• payment is handled by Apple or Google, not by us — we never see your card details;
• subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel;
• you cancel through your Apple App Store or Google Play account settings, not through us;
• refunds follow the policy of the store you bought from;
• the emergency support flow — the button you press when an urge hits — will always remain free.

9. Our content

The Untide name, logo, design, text, and software are ours and protected by intellectual property law. You get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app for your own non-commercial use. Anything you write inside the app remains yours.

10. Availability

We work to keep the Service running, but we do not guarantee it will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free. The AI Coach depends on third-party providers and may be temporarily unavailable. The core urge-support flow is designed to work offline for exactly this reason.

11. Disclaimers and limits

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from your reliance on the Service or on the AI Coach. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer law that cannot be waived.

12. Ending it

You can stop using the Service and delete the app at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these Terms or if we discontinue the Service, in which case we'll give reasonable notice where we can.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. When we make a material change we'll update the date above and tell you in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the new Terms.

14. Operator and applicable law

Untide is operated as an independent project; the legal name and place of establishment of the operating company will be published here once it is formed. These Terms are governed by the law of the operator's place of establishment, without prejudice to the mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence. Where required by local law, you keep the right to bring proceedings in your own courts.
